Do you want to help shape a culture of Holistic Womancare at a pivotal time in the history of civilization? In The Scientification of Love, Dr. Michel Odent demonstrates that "all the different manifestations of love- maternal, paternal, filial, sexual, romantic, platonic, spiritual, brotherly love, not to mention love of country, love of inanimate objects, and compassion and concern for Mother Earth- the prototype for all these ways of loving is maternal love. Have you ever wondered why so many cultures disturb the first contact between Mama Baby and how this has contributed to a civilization with a greater capacity for aggression rather than compassion? Discover how the hormones released during Labour and immediately after Birth actually establish within us the capacity to love, holding clues to our future relationships and overall tendency as a culture.
Our Holistic Doula Program is a comprehensive Training and Certification Program. It is comprised of four parts including Core, Birth, Postpartum and Breastfeeding. We embrace our curriculum through storytelling, lecture and discussion, journaling, creative hands-on self exploration, research and community building. The six month program allows us time to fully reflect on each topic, with spacious opportunities to integrate our material. When we complete our program we will have an expansive comprehension of the historical and political context in which we serve families and a deep understanding of our role as Doulas in our birthing communities.
Certification requirements are rigorous, the reading list extensive and community building a necessity. As we are challenged to meet the certification requirements we will gain confidence in our skills and abilities to serve our clients. *The option to attend the Mamatoto Doula Program without completing the Additional Steps Required for Certification is open however a commitment to attending all the classes is required and agreed upon with the exchange of the initial $100. deposit ( make-up classes may be available under special circumstances for an additional fee). Rowan Farrell is a Traditional Midwife trained through an extensive Apprenticeship in the Wise Woman Tradition. She assisted in establishing The Matrona Midwifery School in Asheville, NC and is the Founder & Director of Mamatoto Holistic Doula Immersion. Rowan received her B.F.A. from the Atlanta College of Art then attended The Academy of Somatic Healing Arts in Atlanta, becoming certified in NeuroMuscular, Swedish, and Sports Massage in 1995. She brings a wide knowledge of the human body to her work, having trained as an Emergency Medical Technician, and a Yoga Instructor. Since 2001 she has offered a variety of classes through local schools such as the NC School of Natural Healing & The Asheville School of Massage & Yoga and including A Visual History of Massage, Swedish, Pregnancy, Infant & Geriatric Massage and a 22hr. CEU program entitled, Pregnancy Massage in the Wise Woman Tradition. You may contact Rowan at 828-388-2600.
Each Holistic Doula Immersion is $700.00 (with $40.00 off for each registered friend). Deposit of $100.00 due four weeks in advance is applied to tuition and is a commitment to attend the full series. Tuition balance due the first day of class.
